There is nothing more fun than celebrating a birthday. It doesn’t even have to be your own birthday to have the time of your life. Your wife, your father, or your son; it is undeniably fun for most involved. Birthdays are your own personal holiday. And for most (except women turning any _0 birthday), everyone feels good about themselves on their own birthday. I think this is because a birthday is always a personal milestone. Even when the past year has not been particularly good, there is eternal hope that ‘this will be the breakout year’. Refrains of ‘this is the year I will lose weight’ are often heard (or muttered so no one can). Replace that ‘weight’ issue, with a ‘quit smoking’ issue, or ‘make more money’ issue; it doesn’t matter. Even if you are ‘perfect’, you get the chance to tell everyone you did it ‘your way’ (Boring!)
Birthdays (Solar Returns) are also when the Transiting Sun (hence, solar) comes home (returns) to the same minute and degree at the moment of your birth. Your real birthday celebration may start a day early or a day late, because every year, the Sun does not come to the same degree on the same date. Case in point, my SR is on April 28th this year at 4:33:58. I wasn’t up at that moment to cheer, nor did I happen to notice if the party was still going! Nonetheless, this was the OFFICIAL moment of my true birthday. The chart below is my Solar Return.
Mars conjunct Uranus on the Ascendant
The moment I examined this SR chart some months ago, I knew I had a major problem coming. Let me make that, ‘increased potential’ for a problem. On the Ascendant (at 18 Aquarius)(the Rising Point, located at the 9 position on the chart (clock) face), sits Mars and Uranus (16 & 17 Aquarius, respectively) in exact conjunction. An exact conjunction is when points are closer than a degree to each other. This is a very strong conjunction (the only closer conjunction is a combust conjunction; email me if you are curious). When Mars and Uranus are conjunct, one of the many interpretations (but most relevant to me) is ‘physical injury or accident’. When an astrologer looks over a client’s chart, he has already interviewed them to see what is going on in their lives. This is so he can find out what is ‘relevant’. Then, upon examination of their charts, he will be able to ‘know’ what applicable interpretations of aspects might be. This is Mars rules ‘physical’ and Uranus rules ‘the unexpected’. I say this may be what ‘applicable’ in my own scheme of things. The ‘injury’ or ‘accident’ may involve the head or blood or come from a confrontation (other interpretations of Mars). On the positive side, this whole conjunction may just be an increased probability of ‘new muscles, yet untried actions, group actions, a different workout regime’ but these don’t seem to fit as well as the likelihood of an accident. Uranus is very strong (for better or worse) in Aquarius, because it’s the ruler. With this pair on the Ascendant (which is your personal ‘here and now’ or the area where you live) odds increase again, because most of the time you are ‘alive’ you are at your Ascendant (where you live and breathe) unless you travel for a living (your Ascendant would change as often as you did).
Just to show you the chart was getting off to a ‘true’ start, on my birthday I was in the kitchen preparing a meal. I was adding something to a salad, and took the spoon to my mouth, to clean it off like I have done a million times. This particular time, the spoon crashed directly into my left front tooth and I thought I broke it in half! I was sure in the next part of that second that I had split my tooth, because I felt the tooth hit the back of my mouth. As my left hand shot to my mouth and I was recoiling in pain, I realized the tooth was still in tact. It must have been a ‘bean’ that had been on the spoon that I had felt. However, the pain from the blow and the sick feeling of a now very loose tooth (and the possibility of an expensive trip to the dentist), made the pain I felt more intense!
All this goes to show many things, but the main thing is that the ‘increased possibility for injury’ was real! Now, for the next year, I will have to be much more careful, take less chances and be more sure of what the hell I am doing! Whoops! LANGUAGE, E J! Sorry. I will have to treat kitchen utensils as ‘weapons’ like they can certainly be when not handled correctly. Ever cut yourself with a pairing knife? Or drop it on a bare foot?

Many years ago, when I decided to retire from Exelon in Illinois, and move to Florida, I relied on my knowledge of Astrology, when others thought my early retirement would open a can of worms and / or be the end of me. Looking back to the end of 2002 and early 2003, I trusted that the (transiting) T Pluto that formed a trine (a 120 degree angle) to first my own Pluto, then my Midheaven, would enable me to do things I had never done and successfully. (To understand this more clearly, read the three articles that I have links to on the index page).
Over the last 5 years, I have been waiting for the increasingly optimistic aspects from T Pluto (29 Sagittarius) trine Natal (my) Jupiter (29 Aries), and T Jupiter (19 Sagittarius) trine to N Pluto (19 Leo). These powerful and once-in-a-lifetime aspects are now coming to fruitation. In a period that has just ended for both (over the last 3 months) these aspect again, increase the possibility of the energies they represent for me. Pluto is the ruler of ‘dramatic changes and power’ and also rules my Scorpio N Ascendant. This is (as seen in 2002~2003, in the changes of leaving a company I had worked for 33 years and an area I had lived in all my life) more powerful than normal since the Ascendant is involved. This time the aspect with Jupiter, alone a benefic planet (a expansive or optimistic planet in it’s own right), the ruler of my second house, I can see the probability of winning the Lottery. For real! See, the second house is about your ‘personal finances, or your ability to earn money’! By itself in a transit chart (everyday chart) to my natal, it will now lie dormant while the transiting planets are retrograde. (Retrograde is the appearance of planets moving in reverse, as ‘seen’ from Earth. Western Astrology is geocentric, as viewed FROM the earth, looking out at the other planets, asteroids, and vast space.) In this SR chart, this moment in time has been frozen to make this chart. This chart and all the angles, points and other will serve as an overview for the next 12-14 months! The timing element for when the possibility of ‘winning the lottery’ will be increased again, when after Pluto and Jupiter station (stop going backward) and start again in forward motion and from exact trines to each other in the natal (Pluto at 29 and Jupiter at 19 Sagittarius). Once Jupiter advances to about 21, it will no longer be in the picture, and the odds drop some since Pluto will be working alone. Since I am an Aries Signature (All of the planets in my chart are finally ruled by Mars, the ruler of Aries. I am still a Taurus Sun, but one 0f eleven that have a ‘signature’) and I am dealing with Fire Signs (Sagittarius and Leo), I feel I have another factor in my favor.
Even after early 2008 and the points in question move away, if I haven’t won the Lottery I will be resolute in waiting. Since T Saturn (18 Leo) sits at the N Pluto, there is an inference that actions or energy to the Ascendant (which, again, Pluto rules) may be delayed or slowed (which is something Saturn does). It might be a month after the Pluto / Jupiter aspects go away (when Pluto moves 1-2 degrees into Capricorn) or after the applicable SR fades out (as far from now as maybe the end of June 2008. I can wait. Provided I manage to live out the Mars / Uranus / Ascendant issues. I cannot win the lottery if I am dead or too injured to buy tickets.
A Grand Trine
A Grand Trine may sound like a good time, and generally, that is what it is. By definition, a Grand Trine is three points that are all 120 degrees (+/- a couple degrees of orb). Usually, they will then share the same Element (Fire, Earth, Air or Water). Again, Air signs come into play with Chiron (15 Aquarius), Juno (16 Libra) and Venus (19 Libra) share the spotlight. This means that all three will work in a positive way to bring about solution to a problem with shared energies. Chiron is healing, understanding while Juno is about 1-1 relationships. Venus is women, art and love. This could be all about ‘a caring and understanding woman associate’. This might be a woman I would feel like trusting and sharing a conversation (Air signs) with. Just to show you what might be, if I were into Art, it might be a long conversation with an art critic or dealer on a piece of work I wanted to purchase. Since I am not an ‘artist’ or ‘art collector’ and have no visions of doing this, this would go down as ‘N/A” (not applicable). The astrologer and client, if it were the case, would put their heads together to reveal something in the client’s life that might bring about and ‘increased opportunity’ with the likes of these three points. Venus is the only point that applies to (aspects) my natal chart, that being an opposition to my Pluto. This would indicate that Venus (love, woman, art) standing opposite sexual energies, power (control), or dramatic changes that may be contrary to what I believe in or stand for. Not so good. But again, it is just that the window of opportunity (or in this case, misopportunity) is open further than normal.
November 07 Update
As November moves into its last full week, I can honestly say that months June thru October dealt primarily in health restoration. I was found to have a particularly low level of a certain immunity factor in my blood and spent the entire month of September getting scans, intricate blood test, and imaging. My insurance company paid nearly $20k for the work done (not to mention my part, much smaller, but still significant none-the-less!) Getting to the bottom of the problem wasn't easy for me or my doctors, finding out I have COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Deficiency). Though only in the primary stages, having lung issues with the beginning of emphysema, I will have to tested annually from this point forward. Without following up on some abnormalities in some preliminary work by my Dr Gerald John, I may have developed full blown COPD or other problems from the genetic Alpha One Anti-Trypsin Deficiency, I might have succumbed to liver or lung problems later.
